The angered Kunichika throws his son into a river and disowns him. However, the son, Motochika, disagrees with his father's course of action and refuses to take part in the warfare. He plans on invading neighboring states to control more land and bring prosperity to the people. The Chousokabe family lives in Castle Okou with Kunichika as the head of the clan. The time is Sengoku in feudal Japan, in the land of Tosa.

People criticised the graphic violence depicted in Oriental Heroes and other similar action genre manhua, eventually leading to the enactment of the Indecent Publication Law in 1975, banning explicit violence in manhua. Various weapons were used, where spilled blood, internal organs, guts, and bones were shown in the injuries that the characters sustained. In the early years of the book's run, the fighting was very graphically illustrated. The heroes of the stories exhibited antisocial behaviours, but routinely fought for justice. It featured stories about young people living in public housing estates in Hong Kong fighting gangsters and criminals.

Oriental Heroes was first published in 1970 under the title Little Rascals (traditional Chinese: 小流氓 Cantonese Yale: Síu Làuh Màhn). This name translates as "Dragon Tiger Gate" in English, and is in reference to the name of the fictional kungfu school and organization that is a major subject matter in the book.

Reiji wins and is suddenly addicted to this new exciting game.Ī staff member of the Dragon Drive virtual reality game named Agent L realizes that there is something incredible about Chibi's performance and invites Reiji and Maiko to a special training room. Reiji runs from the battle and just when it seems like he can't win his dragon does something impossible! It suddenly powers up and defeats the much larger dragon. Right after joining the game Reiji and Maiko are sent to battle a classmate who has as crush on Maiko named Daisuke. Reiji signs up, gets his own dragon, which ends up being the smallest and weakest in the game! Because of its tiny size Reiji names the dragon Chibi. She takes him to a secret place where a virtual reality game called Dragon Drive is played. Reiji Oozora is a total loser! Not good at anything especially schoolwork! One day his friend Maiko Yukino offers to share her class notes with him to help him out on the condition that he takes her wherever she wants to go.
